About us, how Esprit Montagne in La Chapelle d'Abondance was born

"Hotel Esprit Montagne is no ordinary hotel. It is a dream of two people who have shaped their own passions. Alke has always been a mountain man. Every spare moment he plunged into the mountains for climbing, hiking or skiing so he decided to leave the Netherlands to get to know the “hotel business” and ended up in the Swiss mountain village of Champoussin where for years he has successfully been running the three star hotel Royal Alpage Club and chalet rental company, attending a mountain guide course in Alaska in 2008.

A few years ago Anneke visited Champoussin. In that time she still had her own communications agency and worked as an educational developer. Among these projects she saw the opportunity to visit the mountains for a few months to become a skiing guide for the hotel. The spark of love was ignited not only with the mountains but also with Alke."

And so it began... After having spent nearly three years together in Champoussin, we thought it was about time to find a place for ourselves. To start an inspiring hotel where our mutual passion for the mountains would be shaped: Hotel Esprit Montagne was born.

And then there was one...... After almost 5 years together, Anneke decided in the autumn of 2011 to move back to Holland. Although we are still best friends it was better to each go his/her own way.

Although, allone....
Since September 2011 there walks a big softy dog around the hotel. The Sint-Bernard Loebas is now Alke's walking buddy. Together with the clients they often go out into the mountains. Loebas his adventures you can follow on his own facebook page.
