Snowshoe trekking

Where once you would walk with something resembling tennis racket beneath your feet, we now have the modern, sturdy plastic variant. With the broad oval form, you avoid sinking to your waist in the meters-deep fresh snow. And with thick, sharp points on the bottom for optimum grip on the inclines and if the snow is a bit harder.

Hotel Esprit Montagne snowshoe trekking

We organize a full week of snowshoe trekking through the mountains around the hotel. During the hikes, you will walk the most beautiful routes under the guidance of Dutch IML guide Peter Mienes. He is right at home in this area and has gotten to know the most beautiful peaks and routes with a gorgeous view over the mountains and Lake Geneva. You can find more information on his website: 360explore.com

From the hotel, you can be in the forest in no time and find your own route up the mountain. What’s great about snowshoe trekking is that you need not pay attention to the footpaths. As long as there’s a layer of snow on the ground, you can choose your own route. Of course, you should bear in mind that the danger of avalanches is not to be underestimated.

But we’ve got a solution for that, too! Head out with one of the guides here in the valley. They know the most beautiful routes, they can tell you all about the animals that you see and they ensure that all of this is done safely. We often work together with certified local guides that no this region like the back of their hand and have the best stories to tell about the area.

Or you can follow one of the many permanently marked routes that are laid out here in the valley. More than 80 kilometers in routes are marked. You can find them described in the brochures below:
